Artists' Books

Danny Flynn's series of books created in partnership with the Japanese bookbinder Eri Funazaki are included in private and public collections such as The Tate Gallery, The Yale Collection of British Art, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Joan Flasch Artists' Book Collection, and The Miniature Book Collection.

Theatre Dog

Theatre Dog is the ninth artists’ book that Funazaki and Flynn have collaborated on, it contains part of the script of Danny's first play Theatre Dogs (Dir. Anthony Shrubsall). Combining fine bookbinding methods including leather covering and hand tooling. The book was exhibited in The Royal Academy Summer Show 2014. A chop mark depicting a ligature of the letters ff identifies their print work, which are also in private collections in the UK, Europe and the USA.

One & Two (2011)

Bound by Funazaki in full calf with a very thin recessed black leather onlay that depicts an image of a building site crane, of which all six editions placed together comprise. The text was handset in Baskerville 12pt metal type and printed in letterpress. The illustrations were screen-printed and have been additionally gold tooled. The text was sewn on a stub and attached to the cover with a linen and leather joint. The doublures were screen printed. The prose by Flynn involves a sad battle of wits and the humorous missed communications between a man and a woman.
